For many, Oskar Schlemmer is a real unknown, but this eccentric German artist revolutionized the world of ballet and theater with his conception of art and his costumes. So much so that Schlemmer was able to inspire other artists who later became very important in Western culture, such as the singer David Bowie, who was inspired by the German artist for many of his shows and concerts.

Schlemmer was born in Stuttgart in 1888 and trained as a machinist. He joined the Weimar school in 1920. Although he experimented with other arts such as painting and sculpture, it was in the theater that he was recognized for his greatest successes.

Of clear Russian inspiration, it is a work that is defined as an anti-dance where three dancers, two men and a woman, perform a total of twelve dances alternately. These figures, created by the German author, composed geometric figures and visual forms with basic color games.

What the author wanted was to leave out the dancers, making the geometric figures the center of the show, leaving aside the importance of the human body and its movements as the main source of expression.
