El Cine Teatro Cervantes es una joya bien conservada. En efecto, se trata de un teatro con patio de butacas, palcos y círculo, estos últimos no accesibles actualmente para las proyecciones regulares. Las butacas son, como no podía ser de otra manera, de felpa de color rojo oscuro. El cine está situado en el centro llano de la ciudad costera de Almería. Es uno de los pocos cines que quedan en España que todavía ofrece las míticas funciones dobles que fueron famosas durante los años 70 y 80, es decir, dos películas por una entrada. En cuanto a la programación, el cine se especializa en películas de alto nivel y de arte y ensayo, muchas de ellas de procedencia europea. Aunque la experiencia de ver una buena película en un entorno tan lujoso como puede ser un teatro clásico me ha encantado, a los lugareños no parece importarles mucho, dado que la joya de cine estaba casi vacía para la doble función. Una vez más, parece que las salas de cine elegantes tienen que luchar para mantenerse.
