Champalimaud centre for the unknown

The 60,000m2 center was inaugurated in 2010 and is located in the Bethlehem district. The architects were Charles Correa and his associates Sachin Agshikar, Manas Vanwari and Dhaval Malesha. It is a biomedical diagnostic and research center consisting of two buildings. The structure is divided into: a center for physicians and scientists; a theater, exhibition hall and foundation offices; and an outdoor amphitheater. Its location, where the Tagus River flows into the Atlantic Ocean, is symbolic; this was the place where Henry the Navigator and Vasco de Gama undertook their adventures of discovery in the 15th and 16th centuries, and now represents the future of scientific discovery. It has an emblematic glass and steel bridge that spans 21 meters in length, connecting the two buildings.  It is inclined in such a way that while ascending there is only a view of the sky. At the end of the passageway, you see a giant body of water that meets the sea and there is an oval in the water that reflects the sky.
